Description
The Martroger III is France's last sailing buoy tender. Built in 1933 in Les Sables d'Olonne by the shipyard l'Espoir Sablais. She was used from 1933 to 1991, with a crew of 4 men, to maintain the maritime signalling system on the island of Noirmoutier and to take over from the lighthouse keepers of the Pillar lighthouse. The Martroger III was classified as a historical monument in 1993, she was then restored and took part in various nautical events in the Atlantic.
